Vaksindo Highlights Global Call for Unified Action Against Avian Influenza at IPC Annual Meeting 2025
Casablanca, Morocco — April 2025 — Vaksindo, a leading innovator in animal health solutions and a member of Japfa Group, proudly participated in the International Poultry Council (IPC) Annual Meeting 2025 held in Casablanca. This high-level forum brought together global poultry industry leaders to address the growing and complex threat of Avian Influenza (AI).
Representing Japfa, Dr. Teguh Prajitno, Director of Vaksindo, joined a panel discussion to advocate for a coordinated, science-based global response to combat AI. He emphasized that the disease is no longer a local or regional issue—it has become endemic in many parts of the world, posing serious risks to poultry production, food security, and international trade.
"To maintain consumer trust and ensure food safety, we must prioritize transparency, collaboration, and proactive disease management," said Dr. Teguh. "Science must be the foundation of all decision-making."
In his presentation, Dr. Teguh highlighted the importance of comprehensive surveillance of virus mutations, the use of genetic and antigenic analysis, antigenic cartography, antigenic crystallography, and vaccination programs with antigenically matched strains.
By regularly monitoring virus evolution and adjusting vaccination strategies accordingly, the industry can stay one step ahead in disease control while maintaining public confidence in poultry products.
Vaksindo also expressed its support for the joint position by the International Egg Commission (IEC) and the International Poultry Council (IPC), which affirms that vaccination is a legitimate, science-based tool to combat Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), and not a barrier to trade.
As part of both the national and global animal health ecosystem, Vaksindo fully supports this joint initiative. We believe that controlling AI cannot rely solely on trade restrictions. Instead, a science-based approach—including vaccination—must be recognized as an essential component of a comprehensive control strategy.
By supporting the IEC and IPC positions, Vaksindo reaffirms its commitment to driving innovation, collaboration, and sustainable solutions in safeguarding poultry health and ensuring food security.
